If you’ve ever planned your day around feeding times, made room on the couch when there was perfectly good space somewhere else, or found yourself talking to your dog like another member of the family, you’ll fit right in here.
We’re a middle-aged couple sharing our home and our lives with five dogs, so dogs aren’t simply a subject we enjoy writing about. They’re part of our everyday life.
Our dogs make us laugh, test our patience, follow us from room to room, somehow know exactly when it’s time for a treat, and have an incredible ability to make an ordinary day a little better.
That’s exactly where the name Dogs Make Days Better came from.

We wanted to create a place for people who simply love dogs.
There are plenty of websites filled with technical information about dogs, and practical information certainly has its place here. But we also believe there’s much more to life with dogs than answering questions about training, food, and behavior.
Dogs become part of our memories.
Many of us can still remember the dogs we grew up with decades ago. We remember dogs from favorite television shows and movies. We remember the dog that slept beside our bed, waited for us to come home from school, rode along on family trips, or somehow always knew when we needed a little extra company.
And, of course, we’re still making those memories with the dogs sharing our lives today.
Dogs Make Days Better is a place to celebrate all of it.
You’ll find a mixture of entertaining, nostalgic, heartwarming, and useful dog content.
We’ll revisit memorable dogs from television, movies, and years gone by. We’ll talk about the funny and sometimes baffling things dogs do. We’ll share everyday dog-care information, explore dog behavior, talk about life with senior dogs, and celebrate all those little moments that dog people immediately understand.
Some stories might teach you something new.
Others might bring back a memory of a dog you haven’t thought about in years.
And sometimes we simply hope to make you smile.
Living with five dogs means our house isn’t always quiet, spotless, or predictable—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Every dog has a different personality. They have their own habits, favorite places, funny quirks, and ways of communicating what they want.
Over the years, dogs have taught us a lot about patience, companionship, loyalty, laughter, and appreciating simple moments.
That’s something we think longtime dog lovers understand especially well.
A dog doesn’t care whether you’ve had a productive day. They don’t care what kind of car you drive or whether everything went according to plan.
Sometimes they’re just happy you’re home.
And sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Whether you’ve shared your life with dogs for decades, recently welcomed a dog into your family, or simply enjoy a good dog story, we hope you’ll find something here that keeps you coming back.
Take a look around, read a few stories, remember some great dogs from the past, and maybe learn something new about the dog sitting beside you today.
Because after sharing our lives with dogs, there’s one thing we’re pretty certain about:
Dogs really do make days better.
